GENERAL NOTE : BAVARIAN MILITARY SERVICE CROSSES

There can be some confusion regarding the various types of Bavarian Military Service crosses. Their methodology ia as follows.
There are 3 specific forms of the cross: All crosses can be with swords and crowns depending on the gravity of the award

1) FOR OFFICERS. With blue enamel, 1st & 2nd class in Gold ( neck and breast star) , 3rd ( gold) and 4th class in Silver, All can have swords and a crown
2) FOR NCO'S In silver metal 1st class with gilt finish white and black enamel centres. 2nd Class in silver finish white and black enamel centres
3) FOR ENLISTED MEN. 3rd. class all in different tones of copper
3A FOR ENLISTED MEN 3rd class in '' Late war Kriegs Metal" Grey metal finish

The original cases came in colours from pale blue to mid blue ...Later presentation boxes were in dark maroon coloured card. Various designation titles can be found such as: Bayr. M.V.Krz 2.KL. m.d.Kr This stands for Bavarian Militar Verdienst Kreutz 2nd Klass mit Degen, Kron i.e. Bavarian military Service cross with swords ( daggers) and crown. This is the rarest case or box Generally the majority of cases have just Bayr M.V.Kr. this can have the .with swords crosses in them However Crosses with crowns would usually have the crown designation on the lid.
